Arbitration 

Considering the UAE is a major trading hub and a host country for foreign investment, arbitration is becoming an optimal method, for parties to solve their commercial disputes as it allows for selection of experts as arbitrators, increase confidentiality and quicker resolution than litigation.

The UAE is a signatory to the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards, also known as the β€œNew York Convention,” which provides for the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in the UAE.

There are a number of domestic arbitration forums in the UAE including two major in Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation Arbitration Centre and the recently operating ADGM arbitration center, a representative office of the world-leading arbitral institution, the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Court).

The UAE has recently adopted the new Federal Law No. 6 of 2018 on Arbitration in Commercial Disputes which is aligned with international best practices and standards and consolidates the country's position as the most attractive hub for arbitration in the Middle East and North Africa region.
